Can I force six, maybe eight thumbnail pictures per row in the album viewer? If so, could you point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

In the default theme the number of thumbnails per row and the number of rows are dynamic and depends of the width of your browser window. Try resizing the window and you'll see it dynamically adapt to the space available.

While that is true, you can customize the CSS via an option such as this: dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=206847 – dpollitt Jan 28 '12 at 20:34
@dpollitt Yes, but what you suggest is for the category/gallery box only. It sounds to me as if the question was directed towards the display within a gallery ("album viewer") where to my knowledge the number of thumbnails and the size of the photo on the right in SmugMug style is determined automatically depending on the browser window size. – Sebastian Apr 30 '12 at 9:33
So, @ckk, the answer you're giving is "you can not do what you want"? – mattdm Nov 4 '12 at 16:11
