Is there any way to access SmugMug from an AppleTV?

This reads like a feature request. Are you asking when that feature will be available or how to do it as currently implemented? – dpollitt Jan 26 '12 at 1:48
I'd have thought integration with Apple TV would have been an important part. – Brett Clements Jan 29 '12 at 11:49

Unfortunately, there isn't a way. It'd be great if Apple did this. Vote up the idea, here http://smu.gs/zsm1S7 thanks!

I have not found a perfect solution, but I have found a solution. I use Lightroom to manage my photo collection. I also use it to publish to SmugMug. Using the Publish feature in Lightroom 3 I also created a publish service to my "media" computer across my LAN. This service is set to publish to my hard drive and have a maximum image size of 1920 x 1080, 240 dpi, JPG quality = 90, screen sharpening.

I have some smart folders in there, such as "All photos last 30 days", "366 Content" ... based on things such as date ranges or keywords. These will update automatically. Other items I have to update myself such as when I create a folder or an event. However you might be able to set your rules up in such a way that it creates them for your automatically.

I have also set up iTunes to share that specific folder, and its sub folders. Now my AppleTVs will show the images, I also can see the images from other things such as my Playstation3 that is also aimed at the same media computer.

Now whenever I publish to SmugMug, I also publish to my media computer and everything is updated. Plus browsing images is not slowed down by Internet connectivity.

--note-- iTunes does not rescan the folders. It only scans during the launching of the program. So remember to restart iTunes every so often.

It is possible, but messy. You need to jailbreak your Apple TV, install XBMC, and then use XBMC 'RSS Feeds' support to subscribe to your Smugmug site RSS feeds.

XBMC is open-source media center software
