SmugMug Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for SmugMug developers and end users. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have the mobile site turned on in my control panel, and my security is set to the largest size of original, and not protected for the gallery in question. When I visit my site from an iOS device such as an iPhone or iPad, I cannot figure out how to download an image. When I long press on an image and save, it saves a completely black image to my camera roll.

Specifically I am trying to offer users iOS backgrounds for download, and allowing them to do so from my mobile site makes the most sense. Is there a way to do so?

Do you have right click protection on? – jfriend00 Mar 7 '12 at 3:54

Hm, just tried that, seems like it's a bug, I'll check into it. – Andy Williams Mar 7 '12 at 8:43
@jfriend00 - Right click protection/Protected is No. – dpollitt Mar 7 '12 at 14:13

There is a work around currently. You can view the site on your iOS device in full site mode and long click on the larger preview image. This will save a non-black image to your iOS devices camera roll.

Thanks John, that would work well for me to do so, but will obviously be hard for my users to find and figure out. For now I think I will be hosting the images elsewhere as SmugMug makes this quite unintuitive for my users with the bug. – dpollitt Mar 12 '12 at 15:55

You can force the full site version on a mobile device, by disabling the Mobile option by going to TOOLS < CONTROL PANEL < SETTINGS < MOBILE SITE < DISABLED – Hero_John Mar 13 '12 at 0:23
Good point. If this was a per gallery setting, I would do that. But I'd rather not force all mobile users to the full site... Ugh bugs. – dpollitt Mar 15 '12 at 17:03
