Is it possible to set the escape key to toggle the close button in the Lightbox view? I find myself constantly hitting that key with the hopes of escaping out of the lightbox. It would be awesome to have the arrow keys move around through photos and have escape exit back to the gallery view without having to leave the keyboard, grab a mouse, and hunt down the close button. Thanks either way. (:

Come on, we need that escape key! I'm kinda miffed that this feature was ignored. – user840 Nov 19 '12 at 19:46

No, it is not possible to use the escape key. But you can use the x-key to close lightbox, and also you can use the right-left arrows to move from photo to photo while in lightbox.

The x-key??? That doesnt seem to work for me. I love the arrow navigation which is why I am looking for a simple 1-key shortcut to close the lightbox, but the x-key does nothing. Is there some switch I need to toggle? – Seth McBean Mar 13 '12 at 0:27
Where is it not working? Try here, it works in all of our supported browsers for me: cmac.smugmug.com/SmugMug/Support-Heroes-painted-faces/… – Andy Williams Mar 13 '12 at 1:00
That's awesome! It really does work. But why doesnt it work at all on my SM site? Chrome 17.0.963.79 nor Safari 5.1.4 on a Mac: 4virtuesphoto.com/Portfolio/Portraits/… – Seth McBean Mar 13 '12 at 1:50
It appears to only work from SmugMug Style, not thumbnails style, I'm sorry. – Andy Williams Mar 13 '12 at 2:00
Ahhh I see... Well, thanks anyway. That's unfortunate, I really dig the thumbnails look over the Smugmug style. Not a big fan of the preview. Hopefully thumbnails gets some love in a future update. – Seth McBean Mar 13 '12 at 2:30
