SmugMug Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for SmugMug developers and end users. It's 100% free, no registration required.

So, when I was new to Smugmug, I went a bit crazy with themes. I've been thinking about that, and slowly cutting down on the number of themes. But is it a good idea to just use one theme, or can more than one be helpful.

I should add that I do a variety of photography, including some portraits, landscapes, macro, etc.

I would look at your usecases. It might sound fun to have various visual layouts, but that sounds like lots of work. Better just make one or two good ones.

Different themes are useful if the functionality different. So take a look at your existing themes and figure out if they're different enough.

As an example, I have only two themes. The difference between them is the order. For most galleries I want the newest to show up on top. But for my holiday photos, I want them in chronological order. That's a clear new usecase.

It really depends on how you want to present your information. Since you say you do a variety of photography it may be that some themes are particularly good at framing some types of pictures while other types need a different theme.

For example: I have a default theme that I use for most of my galleries, but for holiday pictures I generally use a holiday theme.
