I have many wedding images to upload from a single event. I would like to break up the photos for easier navigating without having to dig through page after page to get to the reception images for example. Want it to look like this: Black-Helton Wedding Before Shots During Ceremony Formal Shots Reception Is there a way to do this?

You can check out the help page about that here:

Basically, you are going to want to add your weddings to a specific category, then create a subcategory for each wedding, and the shots go in galleries in that. It would look something like this:

  • Weddings (CATEGORY)
    • Diaz & Tyler Wedding (SUBCATEGORY)
      • Getting Ready (GALLERY)
      • Ceremony (GALLERY)
    • Black & Helton Wedding (SUBCATEGORY)
      • Before Shots (GALLERY)
      • Ceremony (GALLERY)
      • Reception (GALLERY)

Also for this task you may want to consider keywording to allow for easier finding. If you are using something like Lightroom or another catalog tool you can use it to help you apply these keywords fairly quickly and easily.

For example if you keyword your images from a wedding such as:

  • Smug + Mug Wedding, Preperations
  • Smug + Mug Wedding, Ceremony
  • Smug + Mug Wedding, Formal Shots
  • Smug + Mug Wedding, Reception
  • Smug + Mug Wedding, Aftermath

Once the keywords are applied you can upload all the images at once into one large gallery, such as say "Smug+Mug Wedding". Then using Smart Galleries create virtual galleries for each of those different items. So you could create a Smart Gallery that has your desired settings. So you could create a Smart Gallery rule that says, pick pictures from the Gallery "Smug+Mug Wedding" that has the keyword "Preparations".

What is nice about this approach is that if you have something that might be in multiple categories you can place one image in multiple galleries just by the keywords. So that if you have Formal Shots that took place at the reception you could mark the image with both keywords and it will appear in both galleries. Now if you update the original image, it will also update in both locations at the same time.
