It sounds as though you've already tried the troubleshooting steps we typically recommend; resetting sharing accounts, hard-closing the app, restarting the device. So sorry for the continued trouble!
It may be best to try backing up the files using something like iExplorer, which can access the images and videos in the app,

Could someone please expand on this answer or direct me to a manual for camera awesome? I have the same problem, I don't understand how the CA photo storage and the iOS camera roll work together. CA is taking up way too much storage on my ipad mini and I seem to have duplicate photos in both. I don't want to upload photos to smug mug. Thanks.

There are a couple options.
You can use the save to Camera Roll option and then download the file to your computer using iTunes.
You can also upload the file to a SmugMug account and download it from there.
If the file is small enough, you can email it to yourself and open it from a computer.

There is not a function to move the entire contents of your camera roll to Camera Awesome in one maneuver, sorry! Only individual images can be added from your Camera Roll to Camera Awesome at a time.
It may be possible to use an application like iExplorer (which allows you to browse your iPhone like a hard drive) to move files into Camera Awesome, ...

Connect your iPhone to your Mac, use Image Capture to copy it locally. Verify it plays back fine and then use SmugMug's uploader in the Google Chrome Browser to see if your video uploads fine using this method.

1) Force Quit the app. Double-tap your home button to bring up the application "Tray". Touch and hold Camera Awesome's icon until it wiggles, and then touch the little red minus on top of its icon.
2) Go to iPhone/iPad Settings > Camera! > and toggle the Reset ...

The images are stored in the app unless you set the option for them to be also be saved to the camera roll. Deleting the app does delete the in app storage. It may be possible to mount the iPad as a drive on a computer using recovery software like iExplorer or similar and try to recover the deleted files. I am not aware of anyone that has done it so it ...
