I know, what you mean about the events - unfortunately as far as I know, there is no way to do it so that you will see all the fav in one gallery. But what you could do is create a gallery and collect virtual copies from all of the favourites photos and throw them in to that gallery. It does require few clicks, but is fast and painless.

You could use the event marketing feature. It allows visitors / clients to register for the event so they are able to select their favorites. Those favorites would be visible to you as the account owner.

If you use Lightroom and sync the galleries you can do the same thing Andy described locally. I have a bunch of favorites from different people for a catalog shoot.
