Viewers will have different tolerance levels for the number of images in a single gallery; there is a technological limitation of 5000 images (see here.)
For my wedding galleries, I choose to have a single gallery with "all images" (approx 300-500), but each photo is keyworded with appropriate tags. I then use approximately a dozen Smart Galleries to ...

If you look at page 7 and 8 of Jfriends documentation http://www.pixel99.com/smugcustom/slideshow/jfriend-html5-slideshow-tutorial-1.1.0.pdf
It shows you how to put the code in for a gallery or category, from there its just a matter of tweaking your CSS to make it fit your needs.
For the Fastline Media version, you would need to edit the Javascript code ...

With our OAuth implementation, we give our users a level of control over what apps have access to.
The control is split into two parts Access and Permissions.
Access can be either Public or Full. Public access (which is the default) forces the same access as anonymous API access. Full access give full API access including accessing unlisted galleries or ...

No, this is not possible. The new gallery style is in SmugMug's Darkroom (/darkroom at the end of your site url) and only available right now to logged-in users. Even if you are cookied for the new style, your visitors will still see the current version of the site. When we roll out the new style for all, of course then your visitors will be able to see ...

In the gallery settings you should be able to autosort by Date Uploaded and set the sorting by decending. I have that on many of my galleries and it works well. I also want my latest photos shown first.

You can remove items with this bit of JS and CSS.
I don't know of a way to add items. And FWIW, Filmstrip and Critique are also deprecated, these styles won't be enhanced and as we add new features they likely won't be able to take advantage of them.
We intend to remove the visitor style choice button and put it solely in the hands of the gallery owner ...

Galleries that are unlisted are not visible to general browsers. The only way to access an unlisted gallery is through knowledge of the direct URL, which includes a random string so it is very very hard to guess.
If you have multiple galleries that you wish to group together, you can create a share group.
Both individual galleries and share groups can ...

This customization script I wrote will install a Download Image button in your gallery to make it a lot easier for viewers to download original images. When installed, it looks like this:
The Download Image button initiates a download of the original-sized image (not the smaller size that is diplaying). This customization works site-wide. The Download ...

When you set up the gallery you can decide if other people should be allowed to upload to a gallery. You simply need to provide them with a link to be able to upload through. So the way you would do this is:
Create the gallery and go to gallery settings
Set an Upload Key that will allow others to upload
Save the settings you just set
Under the Upload Key ...

I do not think there is a real number on this and that SmugMug does a pretty good job presenting this anyway. I think as long as they are logically grouped together it is fine. For my personal wedding I broke it apart inside a category that had Wedding Shower, Rehearsal Dinner, Wedding, and Wedding Reception galleries. It makes it easier to find a picture ...

Right now, only through SmugMug's Email Upload option. The photos go to a gallery you control, then you move them to the desired gallery.

There's no time-expiration of galleries. What you can do, is open the gallery and distribute the URL to people, and then when you want to "close" it, simply add a gallery password in gallery settings. After that point, nobody will have access to the gallery without the password. I also suggest that you leave external links off, so that while that gallery ...

A great way to browse SmugMug is on the Browse Page. There you can view daily and all-time popular photos, you can view by keywords and also by categories. There you can also use SmugMug's search feature. Another way is to browse SmugMug's Communities, also available there on the Browse Page.

You can go to http://{yoursite}.smugmug.com/popular and see them. But really the best way to have your brides do this is to use SmugMug's Events feature. This way, your bride's favorites are put in a special gallery.

A similar workaround approach to what Andy suggested, that is able to filter down to just one gallery is to apply a unique keyword to every image in the gallery, one that doesn't exist anywhere else on your site. Then goto that keyword's page and click the "most popular" option from the sort by controls on the breadcrumb trail.
But really, events and ...

What you'd like to do goes against what the display of categories on the homepage is for. Displaying of categories on the homepage keeps your homepage cleaner by not listing each gallery and thus each category is only displayed once. To view the content of a category, a visitor can click on the category.
If you'd like all galleries displayed on the ...

A typical workflow would be: Import from card/camera to Lightroom, edit/adjust images, select images to Publish by adding them to the SmugMug Publish area, then upload by clicking Publish. Exporting is saving another copy of an image for some purpose (to a harddrive, or perhaps in a different format). Publishing does that and more. By Publishing, you ...

You can easily get a RSS feed for new photos in any gallery. Just go to the gallery in question and click Share (or Owner Share) > Get a link > Feeds. You can copy the gallery feed in various formats from here. Or, you can create another custom feed using the tools at the bottom of that page. You can also get a gallery feed by clicking the Available ...

Yes, you can move images to a different gallery using the smugmug.images.changeSettings API method. To do it, you just specify the AlbumID of the gallery that you want to "move" the image to.

There isn't a way to set a date for an entire gallery. Where it says the updated time below the gallery title, that refers to the last time the gallery was updated, like new photos being added.
Inside a gallery, we look at the Exif data to see when the file was created, but that can't be changed for existing images in the gallery. You could try sorting ...

If you would like to make a locked down gallery public you'll need to update the Gallery Settings. To do so please go to the gallery and from the "Tools" pull down menu select "Gallery Settings". From this page scroll down to the section titled "Security & Privacy". Here you'll be able to make the gallery "Public", if it is "Unlisted", by checking the ...

The SmugMug hierarchy is Category>subcategory>gallery>image
There are no sub galleries.
http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-bX37nQc/0/O/i-bX37nQc.png
Your images must be in galleries, and galleries must be in categories. You can also add an extra level of sort between categories and galleries, using subcategories. They allow you to subdivide a category like ...

Unfortunately, there isn't really any functionality to alter the display of the galleries in this tool. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you! The galleries should appear in order of date uploaded, if that helps, but there isn't any way to change the way they appear here at the moment.

In regards to the API, that's the most recent information I could find on the subject:
Unfortunately re-arranging Albums within Categories and Sub-categories
is not possible through the API at the moment.

So unless there has been a recent addition to the API that I missed, it's not possible via the API at this point.

Another option, if you don't mind allowing people to download the full resolution photos (usually OK if it's just photos for friends/family) is to use the Tools -> This Gallery -> Download All option to generate a download URL. You can only pick that command yourself, while you're logged in, and it will e-mail you a URL to download a ZIP file of the ...

I've had some success by setting the style of the album to Thumbnails. Then family members will click on a thumbnail to see a photo and they can usually find the Save photo at the top of the page.
With the otherwise very nice default Smugmug style they click on the thumbnail and have to find out or remember to hover on the actual photo on the right to see ...
