Upfront Disclaimer: I work for SmugMug and I'm the developer of our official LR plugin. Firstly, I want to say that Jeffrey Friedl's plugin is awesome. His dedication to continued development over the years has been nothing short of amazing. However, over time, his plugin has grown to be overwhelming especially for new users. So SmugMug's approach to our ...

I have used Jeffrey's plug-in, and I find it more functional and capable in general. It really makes sense to use it if you commit to using publishing capabilities instead of exporting. There's a good overview of the differences and why publishing is a better model here: http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/smugmug/publish I've written about doing this ...

When you are in SmugMug Style, you can hover over the photo and you see a blue "i" if you have camera info enabled in your Gallery Settings. Click that. Then you'll get the exif floatie. If you want a link to the exif, click on the words "Photo Information" on that floatie, and you'll get this ...

Don't crop or resize at all. Upload all of the original pixels, this way you have the filesize to be able to get the largest prints available, and the largest variety of sizes (not limiting to 8.5x11). You set your galleries to Proof Delay, so that if you need to make an adjustment (like cropping, for example) to the order before it goes to the lab, you ...

Brad, Unfortunately, Adobe don't give us an easy way to achieve this. But there is a solution... Delete the published collection from LR and select 'Leave on SmugMug' Resync the hierarchy and the gallery will be recreated Resync the images for that gallery and you will now be given the option between the raw and the edited file as the file to associate. ...

Give this new version of the plugin a try. A new option has been added to the Publish Manager screen Please let us know if this works as you expect.

I don't think there's currently a way to do that. You could add your suggestion to our feedback pages: http://feedback.smugmug.com/forums/17723-smugmug That way other users can vote and comment on your suggestion, and it helps us to keep track of all suggestions made. ".

We're huge Apple and Adobe fans over here at SmugMug. For better or worse, though, Adobe has been excited to work with us to support Lightroom (and Photoshop and Photoshop Elements), while Apple hasn't been eager to work with us on either Aperture or iPhoto so far. We have a good relationship with Apple, so this certainly isn't some sort of problem between ...

not familiar with the error, but you should update your plugin - you can get the latest version here. Do a manual update, then enable debug logging, try your export. If you get the error again please email the log to SmugMug's Support Heroes.

A typical workflow would be: Import from card/camera to Lightroom, edit/adjust images, select images to Publish by adding them to the SmugMug Publish area, then upload by clicking Publish. Exporting is saving another copy of an image for some purpose (to a harddrive, or perhaps in a different format). Publishing does that and more. By Publishing, you ...

You can upload a slideshow to your SmugMug account - as long as it is a supported VIDEO file format. You need to make sure that you have an account that supports video files as well - only BASIC account levels do not support videos. I hope this helps! Tom SmugMug Support Hero

Please try removing the SmugMug plugin from your Lightroom and install a fresh copy. You can download the newest version from here. And here you can find all the instruction on how to install the plugin.

The way that images are displayed in the Develop module of Lightroom is with all of the Lightroom settings applied. These can be stored either within the Lightroom catalog or as a part of the XMP sidecar file. You can store your RAW files elsewhere, such as in the SmugVault, but it will not take any action on the XMP or catalog settings. You would need to ...

It's not possible. SmugVault is for your secure permanent storage of RAW (and other non-JPG) type of files. But SmugMug doesn't use or read the sidecar info (your develop settings). You can use SmugMug's LR Plugin to upload your RAWs to a Vault and your processed JPGs from LR to the gallery.
