The sales features are the big difference between the Power and Pro levels. But here are a few others that the Pro account offers that the Power level cannot use.

Medium)

ability to use Bay Photo or WHCC as a print lab
add your own custom bit.ly shortening ...

Background
There are many ways to do this, I will outline one of the easiest ways to do this using DropBox to store the PDF or other file.
As stated on the DropBox Website: "Dropbox is a free service that lets you bring your photos, docs, and videos anywhere and share them easily." Setup a free DropBox account by downloading the software and creating an ...

I'll quote SmugMug CEO/Chief Geek, Don MacAskill here:
"There was one memorable time when a customer asked us to store more than 2TB of his photos back in 2005. We say 'unlimited' and we mean it, so despite costing ~$20K for just this one customer, this was my reply:
http://smu.gs/pZLoFl"
So granted that info is from 2005. Now almost the entirety of ...

Two folks come to mind that I know have vast collections of images on SmugMug.
The first is Trey Ratcliff who uses SmugMug as the photo host for his popular Stuck in Customs blog. In the screenshot on a blog post here, he notes having over 175,000 photo views in one day.
The second is Thomas Hawk, who just announced he's offering photos for sale via ...

If you cancel your membership, or close your account, your photos are no longer available to you. If you have money from sales, that's always yours and of course you will be paid. Before your account lapses, or you cancel, make sure you fill our your online payment info and then request payment. One thing you'll want to do is use the download all feature ...

Here's how to do it.
Create a new gallery and then go to the empty gallery page for the new gallery
click "display some by making this gallery smart" link
in the Smart Gallery page, choose Add New Rule
first rule: "Include", "My Photos", "Gallery", {now choose first gallery of event favorites}
hit the + sign to add a new rule
repeat step #4 for each ...

I am plagued with this challenge too.
To date, I have opted for the approach mentioned by Mark: private galleries are unlisted, and public galleries shine in all their glory.
I would amend that suggestion with the following:
I have put all personal galleries in a specific category; it removes one level from organizational methods (I only have ...

I know for an absolute fact that there are users with Terabytes of data, that they do not charge any more than a normal user would pay. They don't even force them to be pro users.
However, I know in the past that there have been bandwidth limits, that have been high. They only applied to photo downloads, not HTML code or even self downloads. It looks like ...

Once a month, on the first business day after the 7th of the month. It's automatic if you have over $500 to pay out, and by your request (clicking a button in your control panel) if you have less than that amount. Yes, one can request to get the money sooner, simply email the Countess of Cash and ask.

In addition to the ones that Doc mentioned, the one that has been much more useful than I expected is the Events feature. I use it to do a culling session with people across the internet. I send them the link and they pick their favorites, rather than writing down information and maybe getting it wrong. I used to get the description of I like the 7th picture ...

I wrote a blog post about the capacity of SmugMug in October of 2009. In a nutshell, Vincent LaForet‘s Canon Mark IV vid on SmugMug used over 20 terabytes of bandwidth for 300,000 views in 14 hours according to Baldy. I have no reason to doubt those numbers. It is about the equivalent of them delivering the text of the Library of Congress in fourteen hours.

Great answer by @jfriend00, plus:
- shipping cost only happens once- from the LAB to the client
- with smugmug you can set up your own branding. The product gets to your client with your own sticker on the box and a thank you print 100% customized by you. I use the print to thank them and remind them to like us on Facebook and recommend our shop. During the ...

The order details shows where the image came from, but since as you said its a virtual copy its misleading. I ran a test and it look like it only shows the original gallery, not the virtual gallery.
You could setup Funnels on GA, but I think they would be misleading because the sale actually comes from https://secure.smugmug.com/cart/ not your domain. In ...

I use both of the services - SmugMug is Great and Zenfolio is great. You need to decide what you want. Zenfolio has EU Labs. SmugMug has great USA Labs. Zenfolio accept files up to 45MB - SmugMug now accepts up to 50Mb files. To customise your website on Zenfolio - no coding, just a matter of pressing the button (very easy). SmugMug you have to code - ...

Upgrading to Pro might be the best answer for your particular task so that you can use the events feature. The photorank thumbs are not visible to users to prevent gaming of the most populars system that feeds the site wide most populars. So that is not really an option.
You can use a smart gallery to display the popular photos from your site but any ...

There are about as many ways that you can do this as ways that you pose a model. Some basic ideas or themes that I have seen professionals use include:
Naming the page "Investment"
Group the pricing into the main styles (eg. Wedding, Engagement, Seniors, Trash The Dress)
As quality or perceived quality increases, I have noticed fewer pricing pages actually ...

I know, what you mean about the events - unfortunately as far as I know, there is no way to do it so that you will see all the fav in one gallery. But what you could do is create a gallery and collect virtual copies from all of the favourites photos and throw them in to that gallery. It does require few clicks, but is fast and painless.

I had a similar 'Field of Dreams' view of Smugmug when I started as well. My advice is basically this: Smugmug Pro is a great place to support your photography business, but a Pro account won't create a photography business. It is simply a component of the business; one of the tools.
Simply offering nice photos on a website will not drive huge sales. In ...

A typical workflow would be: Import from card/camera to Lightroom, edit/adjust images, select images to Publish by adding them to the SmugMug Publish area, then upload by clicking Publish. Exporting is saving another copy of an image for some purpose (to a harddrive, or perhaps in a different format). Publishing does that and more. By Publishing, you ...

While not a question for this community support forum, Don MacAskill (SmugMug CEO & Chief Geek) has addressed the issue in the post at http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?p=1837919#post1837919 though reinstating the no cost Non-Profit accounts. Please contact the Help Desk with details to get reinstated.

This request seems like a perfect time to use Coupons if you have an account that supports it, such as Pro or Business. The way to do it would be a coupon for "Amount Off". You can set the minimum purchase that must be made, as well as the effective dates.

With our Pro account, you can use any of our labs. You can choose a different lab by creating a new pricelist in the 'manage pricelist' screen of your account settings > business > making money section.
At this point it's not possible to offer the customer a choice of which lab they'd like to use. You could only create separate galleries for your US and ...

If you use Lightroom and sync the galleries you can do the same thing Andy described locally. I have a bunch of favorites from different people for a catalog shoot. I just synched to get all their favorites. I then dragged them all into one collection in Lightroom to create the union set. Also they were then in one location for when I needed to do the ...

Yes, there is.
I created this video tutorial to help you make a site that looks and works like this:
http://www.johnnywalkerphotography.smugmug.com/ (demo site)
Who is this video tutorial for:
It's ideal for new SmugMug users as I start the tutorial from scratch.
But I know many people that have existing and well established SmugMug sites that have used ...

Beware too much stuff.
Unless you are trying to be a Stock Photo agency like Corbis, I think the number of photos on offer should be limited. Remember slide shows of the family vacation that droned on for hours, leaving everyone asleep but the presenter? I heard a personal portfolio should be only 12-15 images. Not thousands. Not even hundreds, but your ...
