Well, you aren't missing anything, but Google+ is. Unfortunately, Google has not released any APIs to connect into, or out of Google+. This is the reason you don't see Google+ apps or integration into existing tools, and also why photo sharing really only works via Picasa. Perhaps Google will indeed add APIs to Google+. No one knows.

If you want to be a bit more explicit about your anti-pinterest interest: We have a small piece of code you can add to the head of any page on your site: <meta name="pinterest" content="nopin" /> When a user tries to pin from your site, they will see this message: "This site doesn't allow pinning to Pinterest. Please contact the ...

Can't say increased sales (no way to really know that) but I can tell you that the Daily Photos community does have a pretty high viewership, since they are 1) good photos for the most part and 2) there's lots of activity (comments, thumbs). These show up in SmugMug's Daily popular photos on the browse page. Being involved in a community is a great way to ...

The way I do it is follows. I open the image which I want to post on Google Plus in light box mode. Copy the link and then paste to g+. But you have to be careful with newly uploaded photos - you have to wait few minutes for the server to process it - because sometimes SmugMug will not show the thumbnail of the image, because it did not process it - it is ...

In my testing I have found that Pinterest does seem to respect the gallery protected setting. That way you can allow pinning from specific galleries and block it from others. I would recommend you set the galleries to protected if you are a Power or Pro user. I would also disable external links as that can also help. For total site Pinterest blocking, ...

This may be more complicated, but initially, there is a share functionality from your SmugMug site that you can use which will help draw traffic to your Smug account: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/93256-quick-share-on-facebook-and-twitter That said, it may not be the end-all solution, especially if your current practice is to upload ...

The gist of it is to head over to the Google +1 for your website page and generate the custom code for the button of your choice. Once you have that, you can simply insert the <g:plusone... code wherever you want the button to exist on your side. You also will want to add the Javascript section in, I would choose the "Bottom Javascript" section in the ...

It seems to me that you are talking about social aspects with users who already have a SmugMug account. There are a few things which you should be aware of. First of all, there are ways to indicate that a particular user is a friend or family. I believe you can share photos easily with them, among other things. Secondly, you could join a community. There ...

There sure is. You can use our friends and family feature and our communities feature. You can also easily share on Facebook and Twitter, Tumblr, Posterous, Wordpress (more to come!).

First identify your target audience and then go from there. That will guide you where to best put your resources. Scream it from the roof tops. Write it on the bathroom wall. Put it on a bumper sticker so that people have to read it while sitting at a stop light... Do anything to get your name out there. SmugMug | Market yourself

Please don't worry - SmugMug will not post anything to Facebook on your behalf. If don't want to upload the images you have on your SmugMug site to your Facebook albums, you could simply share your SmugMug gallery/photo by posting the link to your SmugMug site. You can either simply copy the URL of your gallery/photo or use the "Get a Link" feature by ...

If you would like to add the links in to your footer. Please go to your SmugMug site - > now click Tools - > Account Settings - > Style - > Advanced Customiser - > now copy this code: <div id="myFooterSMI"> <a href="http://www.twitter.com/yournickname"><img border=0 src="link_to_your_image"></a> <a ...

With our Pro level accounts you can set your own custom pricing and sell digital downloads rather than prints. The following link explains how to do this using our Pricelist system. http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/93346 If you don't add any print products to your pricelist your visitors will not see them as an option to purchase and only ...

I think you need to consider what you are trying to get out of your Google+ postings. Tomasz is right; using the image link to pull from your SmugMug site is a way to link the two sites. Unfortunately the photos shown in Google+ when posted as a link are half of the size of the photos shown when they are loaded directly to Google+. And using an <img ...

I had a similiar problem at work where the Bluecoat Proxy Server (http://www.bluecoat.com/products/proxysg) categorizes SmugMug as a Media Sharing site so it is blocked. That tag is applied by the Bluecoat service that the company pays for to keep up with websites. There are other services that offer the same service. Is there a specific message that you or ...

It is used quite a bit by all levels of users on SmugMug in my experience on the help desk. The reasons are varied and not necessarily just for commercial purposes. Some examples: To track when invited users look at galleries that you have sent them a link to. Check for intrusion into private galleries. This usually happens if a visitor you invited ...
